1. What is velvet?
Velvet is also known as Zhangrong. In fact, velvet has been mass-produced as early as the Ming Dynasty. Its origin is Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, China, and it is one of the traditional fabrics in China. The velvet fabric is made of cocoon grade A raw silk, silk as warp and cotton yarn as weft interweaving, silk or rayon as pile loops, warp and weft are degummed or semi-degummed, dyed, and twisted before weaving. According to different purposes, different raw materials can be used for weaving. In addition to the above-mentioned silk and rayon, it can also be woven with different raw materials such as cotton, eyelet, viscose, polyester and nylon. Therefore, velvet fabric is not really woven with velvet, but its feel and texture are as smooth and shiny as velvet.
Second, the advantages and disadvantages of velvet fabrics
1. Advantages
The texture of velvet is plump and delicate, and it has the advantages of good elasticity, no shedding, no pilling, and good water absorption. At the same time, velvet fabrics are firm, durable, not easy to fade, and have good resilience. It is a high-grade and mature high-quality fabric.
2. Disadvantages
Due to the characteristics of velvet itself, the surface is composed of dense small fluff. In the process of fabric production and processing, some fine fluff particles will remain on the clothes, which is unavoidable. Generally, it will be washed off in the previous washing, especially black, royal blue, carbon gray and other dark clothes. In addition, static electricity is easily generated in a dry environment.
