Chenille for furniture upholstery and interior design

Chenille is made by interweaving smooth threads with fluffy fibers and then twisting them to create dense and fluffy threads. In the past this process was done by hand, so the fabric was very expensive. Today it is mass-produced: threads are interwoven together by gluing or by blowing hot air.

The material can be colored in thread or finished form. Since the threads are bonded together, the fabric becomes durable. Both natural and synthetic threads are used. In addition, a special treatment - maceration - is carried out to prevent the growth of fungi and mold. Thus, you will have a fabric for decoration that is no worse than velvet. It is highly purchased by our customers.

Chenille products do not change size when in contact with water. The fabric is stretchy so it won't wrinkle or stretch after use. Fabric dyes very well, so chenille is available in a variety of colors. That's why designers love it so much. The furniture is covered with chenille, giving it an elegant and noble look, and silk threads of different textures are combined to create a sparkling effect.

Depending on the type and number of threads, chenille is available in the following types:

•Natural, containing more than 60% cotton. Environmentally friendly, comfortable to the touch, but not durable.

•Synthetic fibers, with polyester and acrylic content exceeding 60%.

•Rayon, made entirely of synthetic thread, is the most durable and durable.

Chenille is most often used in the production of furniture: sofas, armchairs upholstered in chenille do not fade over a long period of time. Designers use this fabric to create wall decorative panels, textile wallpapers and decorative curtains. Curtains are made of less dense materials, especially bedroom curtains, as the material does not let light through.

The advantages and disadvantages of
The main advantage of chenille is its high aesthetic properties, being able to decorate any interior thanks to its variety of textures, patterns and colors. It's just as attractive as velvet, but more affordable. It has a velvety structure and is therefore similar to velveteen. The chenille fabric is elastic, perfectly absorbs light and noise, and does not lose its original appearance after washing.

Perhaps the only drawback is that the thread is unstable and easily pulled out of the canvas. Chenille fabric should be protected from accidental scratches, so it is unlikely to last long in a house with cats and dogs.
fabric care
The main condition for long-term use of chenille is to avoid scratches caused by animal claws or sharp objects. It can be washed, but if it has a glue base it may cause stains. In this case, dry cleaning is the best option. Small stains can be removed with ammonia, while larger stains are recommended with a damp sponge and soap. Then use a vacuum cleaner or brush to gently remove any remaining spots.
